About MANCEF: Board of Directors James Wylde
James Wylde currently serves as MANCEF's Treasurer. Prior to this, James served as the Board Secretary on the MANCEF Executive Board since 2002. Through his role as Secretary, James helped to operationalize many of MANCEF's functions, resulting in a streamlined organization that can better serve the needs of its members. He was an active participant in several MANCEF committees including Marketing, Events, and Membership. James acted as Conference Director for the 2004 COMS Conference held in Edmonton, AB, realizing one of the most successful COMS conferences to date. Career James is currently operating CSM Analytical. Prior to CSM, James was employed by Zyvex Corp in Richardson, TX, as an applications engineer specializing in the commercialization of assembled microsystems and nano-manipulation tools. He focused on bringing next generation technology from the laboratory to the marketplace. Prior to joining Zyvex, James was responsible for integrated MEMS development at Bookham Technology and Nortel Networks in Ottawa, ON, Canada. As part of this development, the world's first integrated optical receiver with a MEMS based VOA was commercialized. Education James received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, specializing in dynamic testing and characterization of MEMS devices. James earned his MASc. (Mechanical Engineering) at the University of Toronto, while conducting research on effects of the environment on the fracture behavior of adhesive bonded aluminium. He received his B.Eng. (Mechanical) at the Technical University of Nova Scotia, Halifax, NS, working on modal analysis and design of a joint simulator for the Canadarm project for the Canadian Space Agency. Publications and Industry Contributions James has authored or co-authored over 40 articles, conference papers, and book chapters in nanotechnology, materials characterization and research, advance packaging, and commercializing integrated MEMS devices. James is also on the MEMS Advisory Group for CMC Microsystems and has organized numerous conferences and workshops on small technology and commercialization. © MANCEF - Micro And Nanotechnology Commercialization
