J. Malcolm Wilkinson, PhD
MANCEF Contributions Dr. Wilkinson is currently a member of the MANCEF Advisory Board and a long-time attendee of the COMS conference series. Education Malcolm Wilkinson was awarded the degree of BA from Oxford University in Physics. He holds an MSc in Semiconductor Technology from Southampton University and gained his Doctorate for research work in Microelectronics at Middlesex University. Career Overview His career in industry spanned 24 years in semiconductor and computer companies and covered all aspects of business from R&D through product development and manufacturing to corporate technology strategy, technology transfer and finally marketing and sales. He regularly teaches across Europe on the medical applications of the technology on courses presented by the Swiss Training organization FSRM. He has coordinated and managed several collaborative projects funded by the European Union and is a member of the NEXUS and Europractice Networks. He has provided valuable mentoring for start-up companies and helped a Danish University spin out to raise $5 million from Venture Capital sources. Recent projects have been to develop regional strategy for the transfer of technology from the academic research base into industrial production with the objective of creating wealth and employment. He is particularly interested in benchmarking of the performance of research institutes and incubators to identify best practice in the creation and nurturing of high tech start up companies. © MANCEF - Micro And Nanotechnology Commercialization
