I am seeking re-election to the MANCEF Executive Board as the VP for Europe/Africa and would value your vote and support to enable me to continue with the work that I have been carrying out during the last three years. GAC Members who are not candidates for Board positions will be sent ballot forms after the nomination process is complete.

Now the global MNT community is embracing commercialisation as one of its key strategic objectives I want to use my experience and wide range of contacts around the world to re-enforce MANCEF as the definitive world organisation for advancing commercialisation of MNT. I do not seek the position for professional or financial gain and am only motivated by the challenge the work demands and because of my long association with the Foundation. I am now semi -retired and therefore can contribute at least one day per week to MANCEF work.

Specifically I intend to:

  • Strengthen MANCEF's relationships with its partners and other organisations and seek new ones
  • Organise a number of new European Commercialisation workshops and conferences with Europeam partners to compliment the annual COMS conferences
  • Work closely with the GAC to increase MANCEF membership, particularly in Europe, including bringing in more company and Charter members in areas related to new sectors of business
  • Work towards setting up a professional directly for members who are qualified to be international consultants
  • Work with the COMS2008 Committee on the technical programme
  • Put together a UK delegation for COMS2008

Past Record

During the last three years I have been a proactive member of the Executive Board attending over 90% of Board meetings and have fully satisfied the criteria for Board Membership as outlined in the EB Document.

  • Conferences
    • Active participant in all COMS conferences since the first one in BANFF in 1994-member of JOC for COMS2000, COMS2002 COMS2005, COMS2006, COMS2007 &. Organised and chaired 6 of regional conferences and workshops.
    • Formulated and led a UK delegation to COMS2007 in Melbourne.
  • Roadmap Development
    • Contribution to chapters in first and second edition of international roadmaps.
  • Revenue Generation
    • Have acquired past sponsorships, exhibitors, delegates for all COMS conferences.
  • Edited and wrote with MANCEF members contribution, a book
    • Commercialising Micro and Nanotechnology Products
