Dr Pieter Telleman Dr. Pieter Telleman

Director, MIC-Department of Micro- and Nanotechnology
Technical University of Denmark

Candidacy Statement

My initial contact to MANCEF was through Dr. Kees Eijkel, President of the Executive Board of Directors of MANCEF. MANCEF's attention to commercialization of miniaturization technologies is one that is of great interest to my organisation. My close collegue Prof. Dr. Aric Menon participated in the COMS05 meeting to asses the possibility for MIC to get more closely involved with MANCEF.

The vision of my organization is to ensure the establishment of a micro- and nanotechnology industry in Denmark. Our mission therefore comprises three distinct activities: Scientific research in micro- and nanotechnology, education of scientists and engineers in micro- and nanotechnology and transfer of scientific knowledge to industry. MIC has always been very active in seeking progressive and innovative ways for commercialization of research results. In the past decade MIC has generated 10 start-up and spin-off companies. Several of these companies have launched their first micro- and nanotechnology-based products.

Commercialization of miniaturized technologies is a topic that is of great interest not only to MIC or Denmark but to many individuals and organisations in Scandinavia and I would like to build MANCEF's profile in our region. MANCEF can be of great help in the creation, exchange, and dissemination of knowledge vital to people, organizations, and governments interested in the commercialization of miniaturization technologies as stated in MANCEF's mission statement
