Peter Podesser, PhD, MBA Peter Podesser

Dr. Podesser is currently a General Board (Europe) member, a member of the MANCEF Marketing Committee, and a long-time lead sponsor and exhibitor of the COMS conference series. Peter also contributed fundamentally to the 1st Edition MANCEF International Micro Nano Roadmap.

Career overview

Podesser holds an MBA and Ph.D. in strategic planning from the University of Economics and Social Sciences in Vienna, Austria. He speaks German, English, French, Spanish and Portuguese.

Podesser has 15 years of international management experience in the materials and equipment industry, working in Austria, France, Germany, the United States, Singapore, China and Asia. He is the former chairman and CEO of RHI Asia Pacific in Singapore, a regional holding company that is a world leader in the refractory materials arena. During his tenure, Podesser spearheaded the consolidation of RHI following the first Asian crisis and guided the company through major mergers and acquisitions, accomplishments that ultimately helped the company increase market share, revenues and profits.

Before this Podesser was building up the company's business in China. As general manager for the company, in charge of building a joint-venture company engaged in state-of-the-art manufacturing of special ceramics and refractories in northeastern China with a sales network throughout the country.

Industry Associations, Contributions And Publications

  • Played a significant role in creating an alliance between MANCEF and Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI).
  • Leading advocate of the importance of connecting MEMS and nanotechnology to the semiconductor industry and has promoted the concept to the SEMI Board of Directors in both the United States and Europe, creating a better understanding and higher awareness between the industries. He was instrumental in the establishment of and provides continued support for the International MEMS Steering Group (IMSG) and the Semi European Standards committee.
  • Author and co-author of a number of publications in the field of strategic planning, foreign direct investment in Asia and high-tech marketing.
  • He is also a member of the Steering Committee of the MEMSTAND, EU funded project for MST/MEMS Technical roadmap.
