Robert Mehalso, Ph.D.

Robert Mehalso, Ph.D.Dr. Robert Mehalso has over thirty years experience in academia and industry in research, engineering, manufacturing, and marketing with an emphasis on materials/fabrication process development and commercialization of micro/nanosystems.

MANCEF Contributions

Dr. Mehalso was involved in organizing the first commercialization conference in Banff in 1994, and has attended and presented papers at every commercialization conference. He is an active participant in MANCEF. Through his role as a strategic advisor to academia, government, and industry, and his extensive experience in practicing and integrating all aspects of the commercialization pathway, Dr. Mehalso would actively contribute to the MANCEF mission.

Education

Dr. Mehalso holds a B.S. in Ceramic Science from The Pennsylvania State University and a M.S. and Ph.D. in Materials Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is a University Fellow of The Pennsylvania State University and Rensselaer.

Career

Dr. Mehalso is internationally recognized for his pioneering and innovative approaches to the commercialization of micro and nanosystems – integrating the development of manufacturing approaches, the building of infrastructures, and the delivery of products.

Dr. Mehalso founded and built the world's first corporation dedicated to the commercialization of microsystems and has subsequently been involved in founding over a dozen micro and nanosystems companies, including co-founding Ardesta, the first micro/nanosystems venture fund, and Small Times Media.
