High Desert MNT Regional Workshop
October 12-13, 2004
TVI Workforce Training Center - Albuquerque, NM USA

Albuquerque Technical Vocational InstituteThe High Desert MNT Workshop focused on how the micro-nano community of New Mexico can produce wider commercial opportunity through partnership and interaction among the regional commercial, educational, government, and investment interests.

Program

"Regional" for this event was defined as New Mexico and those micro-nano interests in areas neighboring New Mexico; specifically within Arizona, Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, and within Mexico's Chihuahua and Nuevo Leon states.

The event presented a unique opportunity to develop partnerships between the world-class efforts of the U.S. national labs, national and regional micro-nano workforce programs, regional and international economic development and science organizations, and MANCEF's commercialization education mission.

This conference focused on bringing together the micro-nanotechnology interests of academia, government and industry, showcasing their respective micro-nano efforts, sharing models and programs supporting regional micro-nano economic development and education, and highlighting regional commercial efforts of companies and organizations in the areas of energy, BioMEMS, RF MEMS, homeland defense, equipment and packaging.

Albuquerque, New Mexico is an emerging world-class hotbed of microsystems and nanotechnology research and development, science and engineering that also boasts a solid, established and early stage commercial base. Supporting Albuquerque's and the region's micro-nano commercialization and economic development efforts is a vanguard of national labs, institutes, universities, state governments, international organizations and business venture support.

The promise of New Mexico's micro-nano resources brought together approximately 100 delegates from across the region to exchange information and perspectives with regional microsystems and nanotechnology experts, including state and federal government representatives, entrepreneurs, suppliers, and venture capitalists.
