Board of Directors Election 2005 Robert Giasolli
MANCEF Contributions Mr. Giasolli is a current member of the MANCEF General Advisory Council for the Americas, who has been instrumental in establishing the MANCEF Education Committee. Robert serves as the Education Committee Co-Chair and has driven the team to develop numerous relationships around Educational products which will bring visibility and revenue to MANCEF in the near future. Robert was also a Chapter Leader for Cost Modeling for the 1st Edition MANCEF International Micro Nano Roadmap. He is a co-author of the Nanotechnology and the Intellectual Property Chapters for the updated 2nd Edition Roadmap. Robert is also leading the effort to develop a new International MNT Workforce Development chapter for the 3rd Edition of the MANCEF International Micro Nano Roadmap. Education Robert acquired his BS in Applied Physics from the University of Texas at El Paso in 1998. After several years of work including teaching primary school in Hawaii he returned his own schooling to achieve an MS in Manufacturing Systems Engineering with an emphasis in micro and nano Engineering from Louisiana Tech University. Career After leaving academia for industry, he worked on numerous products (in the optical, RF, biomedical, and software spaces) while employed by Coventor, a design house and software developer in the Microsystems field, as a Solutions Architect in charge of numerous foundries and projects in Asia and North America. Presently, Robert works for XCom Wireless in Long Beach, CA, managing its foundry relationships and performing the operations management for its clean room packaging facility. In addition he is an acting general advisor for Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute’s Southwest Center for Microsystems Education (SCME). Robert serves as the President
of Educate For Tomorrow (a start-up corporation in Hawaii focused on educational
reform and the advancement of science through products that include software
components). The corporation is developing curriculum for grades 7-12
with a focus in multidisciplinary science. Robert focuses his educational
materials to enlighten, inform and from understanding for governments,
industries and the general public in an effort to enhance economic development
through regional advance technology foundations and resource development.
In addition, Mr. Giasolli assists the National Science Foundation as a
grant proposal reviewer in the areas of Nano Manufacturing and Education.
