Employment 1988 – 1990: Development scientist for commercial mass spectrometry instrumentation at Kratos / Shimadzu, Manchester, UK. 1991 – 1993: Research and Development Manager Kratos / Shimadzu, Manchester, UK for mass spectrometry and surface science instrumentation. 1994 - 2000: Co-founder, director and CEO of HD Technologies Ltd. Manchester UK. HD Technologies was a scientific instrumentation development company which did both contract development and development of its own product lines. The company was acquired by Thermo Electron Corporation (USA) for its mass spectrometry technology in January 2000. 2000 – 2002: General Manager of Thermo Finnigan, Manchester UK. Thermo Finnigan was part of Thermo Electron Corporation and developed and manufactured mass spectrometers with an annual turnover of US$20 million and 65 employees. Thermo Finnigan Manchester operated within the Thermo Electron corporate structure which had an annual turnover of approximately US$2.5 billion. 2002 - present: Founder, director and CEO of PD Analytical Pty. Ltd. (Brisbane, Australia), a consulting company for high-tech businesses, specialising in scientific instrumentation and product development. Major clients:
