The International LIGA Interest Group

An interactive workshop on the 'Applications and Commercialisation of LIGA' held at the COMS2004 conference in Edmonton, Canada, was attended by over 30 delegates from around the world, including the US, Canada, Australia, and Germany. At the meeting, participants agreed that to enable LIGA technology to be exploited effectively, the range of interest and size of the global community needs to be determined and a commercialisation strategy established to provide a market-oriented focus for the facilities, people and organisations engaged in developing and using the LIGA process.

About the COMS Series

COMS is the leading international conference on the commercialization of MEMS/MST/micromachining and nanotechnology. This Conference fosters the commercialization of micro- and nanotechnologies and addresses commercialization issues unique to these emerging and disruptive technologies. COMS brings together key people from all over the world and from every sector of the supply chain, including top researchers in the field, equipment suppliers, end users and financial experts.

The Conference utilizes a "Gordon-style" environment that strongly encourages interaction among the attendees. COMS 2004 provides an ideal opportunity to meet decision-makers in the micro- and nanotechnology communities and to gain valuable insights and information about industrial trends. It is a follow-up to the earlier highly successful MANCEF-sponsored COMS conferences held in Banff (1994), Hawaii (1996), San Diego (1998), Dortmund (1999), Santa Fe (2000), Oxford (2001), Ypsilanti (2002), and Amsterdam (2003).
