Micro and Nanosystems Department, Candidate Statement My first experience with MANCEF was as an attendee at COMS-99 in Germany, and collaborator of the local committee. Through my participation in NEXUS network meetings, I heard about MANCEF and that the Conference on Commercialisation of Micro and Nano technologies could give me a good overview which was fully complementary to my scientific background. Since then, I have regularly attended the conference as much as I could. COMS conferences have helped me and my institution (CNM-CSIC in Spain) in comprehending more about the commercial specificities of M&NT as disruptive technologies and the difficulties in reaching the market. We have used and disseminated this type of knowledge in our country and we have been trying to help any company on the full implementation of M&NT in their products. On a macro level, in the last few years I have been involved with M&NT at European level by being partner in Nexus and Nexus + networks, by collaborating on the Technical Committee of Eureka- EURIMUS cluster, and by co-ordinating the GoodFood Integrated Project of the 6th Framework of the European Commission, on the use of M&NT in the AgroFood field. Currently I am also the officer of the Electronics and Microelectronics programme of the Spanish Ministry of Science and Education. I hope that my knowledge of the European M&NT situation may be of help for the MANCEF GAC.
