| Bruce Alton
Micralyne brings its customer's MEMS to market by offering full development, prototyping and volume manufacturing services from its state-of-the-art 6" fab facility and the company serves market-leading companies in several industries including communications, transportation, life sciences and energy. Bruce is responsible for all of the firm's sales, marketing and communications activities. As a Partner organization, Micralyne was a major contributor to the success of COMS 2004. MANCEF Contributions Bruce worked with the local community to develop the successful COMS 2004 proposal, served on COMS 2004 committees, and attended COMS over the past five years. Bruce has been instrumental in building MANCEF initiatives and partnerships in Canada. Education Bruce was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta and in 1988 he earned his Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Alberta. Career In 1989, he worked with the Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research, a $1 Billion endowment funding basic medical research, to undertake a review of the Foundation’s Technology Commercialization Program. In 1990, he joined Ian Murray & Associates Ltd. and completed several projects in the advanced technology, international trade and forestry industries. In 1993, Bruce founded Blackstone Multimedia Corporation and doubled revenues annually for four years as President. Blackstone was one of the first Internet and multimedia development firms in Western Canada and served corporate and educational clients across North America. In 1998, Bruce founded and became President of Blackbird Ventures Inc., a venture capital and advisory firm focused on technology related investment opportunities. Through Blackbird and RiverView Venture Partners Inc., he was involved in a number of venture capital initiatives in Western Canada. Bruce is a business and community leader with quality contributions to major corporate and community boards. This includes membership on the Governing Council of the MEMS Industry Group and participating in the organizational aspects of the COMS 2004 Conference in Edmonton. He has also been on the boards of the Alberta Economic Development Authority and Economic Development Edmonton.
