Dr. Volker Saile is a full professor in the faculty of mechanical engineering at Universität Karlsruhe in Germany and serves also as Director of NANOMICRO Science, Technology, Systems at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) He served as Conference Director of COMS 2005 in Baden-Baden and as a member of the MANCEF GAC since 2006.
Research Activities
Dr. Saile's research has focussed on microsystems technology including nano- and microfabrication of components and applications of such components or of entire systems in optics, fluidics, and analytics. He is particularly interested in applications of synchrotron radiation in X-ray lithography and in X-ray optical devices and systems.

Dr. Saile received his Ph.D. in physics from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in München in 1976.
