The Nano Network of New Mexico and the Nano Network of Northeast Ohio have joined together to further the collaborative nature of nanotechnology in the advancement of nanoscience and business development for the next wave of innovation.
The result of this collaborative effort was a Nano Convergence and Entrepreneurship event that highlighted examples where convergence between scientific disciplines and industrial applications has yielded an improved commercial product or industrial shift.
Because nanoscience and nanotechnologies borrows from physics, chemistry, biology, engineering, and materials, it must be seen as a new pan-industrial "enabling" platform technology upon which not just new products, but also new economies, will be built.
Speakers
Convergence: Infrastructure and Roadmapping Session:
Anne Chaka- “NanoConvergence Recipe and Challenges to Nanomanufacturing Infrastructure”
Steve Walsh - “Roadmapping Nano-Bio Industrial Pathways”
Nano Entrepreneurship Session:
Scott Rickert - “Commercializing Nano from the Bottom Up”
Arthur Fritts- “Model for Speeding User-University Commercialization of Nano Materials for Aerospace”
John Finley - “Nanotech Entrepreneurial Path and Lessons Learned”
Scott Bryant, Executive Director, MANCEF also gave a brief presentation on COMS2010, the premiere international micro and nano commercialization event which will be returning to New Mexico in August 2010.
